About Us

This blog was ironically first discussed while eating out at a pretty expensive restaurant. We must have sounded a little funny discussing money saving ideas while munching on $10 shrimp pogos.

The idea behind this blog is to write about our adventures navigating our late 20s as financially-conscious females. We plan to write about the goings-on in our lives, everyday money saving ideas and personal finance topics. We both consider ourselves to be strong savers and “good with our money” but there is always room for improvement. The hope is that by writing this blog, we will be more conscious of our purchasing and saving choices and learn a few new things along the way too.

Money makes most (if not all) people a little uncomfortable. It’s really easy to rely on other people when making personal finance decisions. These decisions are scary, complicated and can have long lasting implications on your life. Your parents, relatives, or significant other may all seem to be more knowledgeable than you and therefore in a better position to make these types of decisions for you.

BUT, in the words of Beyoncé, “I truly believe that women should be financially independent from their men. And let’s face it, money gives men the power to run the show. It gives men the power to define value…It’s ridiculous.” Depending on where you are in your life, “parents/relatives” could be substituted for “men” in this quote. Knowledge is power so the first step towards becoming financially independent is becoming financially savvy!
